Honestly, I have no clue how to make this work and what to watch out for. All suggestions are welcome.

How about we start with a one page challenge. Not too serious, more than one entry could be entered, unlike MP.
Sorry, i have no great suggestions as to how it would work, but one option would be for folk to post a link to a remote site, say dropbox, by a certain date.
We can then comment in a thread, and if possible vote in a poll.
My suggestion would be to keep the reading focused to a shorter period, say two weeks to keep momentum.
Just a thought but happy to take part.

Dan - Is there a way in this forum to give members the option to get an email update of threads they follow? That way we don't have to be signed in all the time, but we can get notification if issues we're following get new posts.

This place looks nice. Way to go Dan. I'll think of a way to code something similar to moviepoet. But I'm occupied this week. This is a wonderful start to keep the moviepoet community alive!

Click on your "Profile" (top of page). Then click "Notifications". It allows you to set up email notifications for the various categories.

Hey Dan,
since I'm useless on these types of things I'm good at suggestions, poor at solutions. But...
is there anyway of having a portal, or recent post list, so that folk can dip in and see whats active. tends to help interest.
just a thought

Hey buddy... just letting you know that the Discussions thread title is spelled incorrectly.
I know, I'm a dick for mentioning it. :-)

I'd welcome any new titles and new board suggestions. I know there is a request for a production board, so that's coming -- just not sure how to word it yet, since I'm only interested in writing. After the real MoviePoet goes away I'd be more than happy to start renovating this mess. Did I mention I would love to moderators and/or admins, or whatever? Apply within.

Here's a thought. Pia Cook and Michael Cornetto once held a contest on Simply Scripts where four scripts were chosen to be part of an anthology feature film. What if...
We hold a contest and submit scripts approx. 10-20 pages long with a common theme. Twilight Zone episodes, rom-coms, Christmas, etc. At the end of the contest, the top 5 or 6 entries become part of a feature length film -- sort of like The Twilight Zone Movie, Creepshow, Valentine's Day, The Cat's Eye, etc.
Once the contest is over, the winning writers now have a feature film script they can shop around to directors, producers, etc.
Just a thought.

Hi Dave,
that's a great idea!
Why don't we all reply to this post with suggestions about a theme and then Dan picks one of them, kinda like what Chris did with the last two MP contests.
I propose the following:
1) "The side effects of success". 2) "Getting stuck" (literally, not figuratively. Your protagonist gets stuck somewhere: in traffic, in an elevator, in a room...). 3) "Unlucky cheaters": your script features a love betrayal gone terribly wrong.

Guys, I hope we'll keep the MP tradition and have a logline contest here once or twice a year. As you all remember a logline contest is appealing to new and experienced writers, so it might help with traffic too.

And maybe a five-pager for the other contest? Just an idea. But I'm thinking of something you might send out to get your script read. A logline and a couple of paragraphs.
